Bunkering and Freight

The Port of Skagen holds a central position for freight traffic and bunkering that is very attractive for the 60,000+ vessels passing north of Denmark through the Skagerrak every year.

Situated at the northernmost point of the European continent, Skagen holds an ideal position as base port for bunkering of ships at the roadstead or at one of the three onshore facilities at the quay. Monjasa A/S, Nordic Marine Oil A/S and FF Handel operate the three facilities. They service the ships calling at the port of Skagen as well as many of the thousands of ships passing close by Skagen every year.

The most recent terminal at the Port of Skagen was established in November 2015. The bunkering facilities now match the increasing demand from the international ship traffic between the Atlantic Ocean/the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, i.e. traffic both in and out of the SECA area.

Sewage effluent can be deposited through a shore connection. From the end of 2017, it will be possible to deposit tank cleaning water both to bunkering barges as well as by a shore connection at quays 9 and 10. It will also be possible to deposit oil-polluted water from tank cleaning to an onshore treatment facility, just as the port can receive waste water.

Loading and unloading of cargo has been optimized at the new quays 9 and 10. Quay 10 has a length of 190 meters and a guaranteed water depth of 9 meters. Quay 9 has a length of 450 meters with a water depth of 11 meters. Both quay areas have a width of 30 meters in the entire quay length.
