Every day, all year round, the Port of Skagen quays are bustling with activity when cargo vessels are loaded or unloaded.

Our business areas cover a wide span; and Port of Skagen is always open toward new business areas that may contribute to create value for the harbour and for the local community. The most recent harbour expansion towards the west plus a new 170-metre-long quay, boasting a water depth of 9 metres and a RO-RO ramp, constitute the best possible framework which we can provide to a wide range of different businesses – whether they desire to establish themselves at Port of Skagen or to load or unload their goods via the harbour.

As examples of our current business areas we can mention:

  • Bulk such as fishmeal, stone and gravel.

  • Project cargo such as the shipping of elements for the wind-turbine industry.

  • Frozen cargo unloaded directly from refrigerator vessels to cold-store warehouses right by the quay – and vice versa.

  • Floating bulk in the shape of fish oil and gas oil. With respect to both these products, Port of Skagen provides tank facilities with direct linkage to the quay.

  • Also, there are weekly freight-train departures from the harbour area.

From a geographical point of view, Port of Skagen is incredibly well located with respect to the ever increasing shipping trade between the Atlantic Ocean and the Baltic countries; and we are very much focussed on the international ship traffic through the Kattegat. Thus, there is a strategic focus on establishing new business areas within transit cargo and maritime services.
